THE CRAFT

Shibori is one of Japan's oldest dyeing traditions - fabric is bound and dyed by hand, creating a pattern that cannot be replicated exactly. The slight crinkle and texture in this obiage is a result of the process itself. This piece was made in the 1960s and has never been worn.
