Late Showa Era - Nagano - Woven Silk

THE MEANING

The wave pattern, seigaiha symbolises peaceful seas, good fortune, and a wish for endless waves of happiness that reverberate into the future. Waves move constantly but always return - a symbol of persistence and good fortune in Japanese textile tradition.

THE PATTERN

In muted sage green and cream, the overlapping curves create a rippling movement across the whole garment. It changes in different light - flat and quiet in shade, dimensional and textural in sun.
