Showa Era - Silk - Original Himo Cord
THE MEANING
The geometric diamond (hishi) pattern is one of Japan's oldest motifs - associated with good luck, growth and resilience. Rendered here in pink, yellow, green and white against black silk, connected by delicate dotted lines across the whole garment.
THE PATTERN
Black silk with a hand-printed geometric pattern in four colours - pink, yellow, mint green and white. The diamonds are connected by dotted lines that run across the fabric in flowing curves. Up close it is intricate and detailed. From a distance it reads as graphic and bold. The original mint green tassel himo cord ties the whole piece together.
