THE MEANING

The fan (ogi) represents good luck and a bright future - fans open outward, a symbol of expanding possibility. Each fan on this haori carries its own motifs within it: sakura (new beginnings), kiku (longevity) and ume (perseverance). Three symbols layered inside one. A wedding gift, a significant birthday, or any occasion that calls for something considered.

THE CRAFT

Yuzen is a Japanese silk-dyeing technique where each design is applied by hand using fine brushes and a rice paste resist - closer to painting than dyeing. Historically reserved for high-quality kimono, it requires significant skill and time. This piece goes further: hand embroidery has been added on top of the painted surface, raising the detail of the chrysanthemum and floral motifs above the silk. No two yuzen pieces are ever identical.
